On Tuesday, October 28, and Wednesday, October 29 will be our next experiment in the co-located immersive experience (IX) bodystorm, hosted at the HKU AXR Lab. If the doors are closed, you will be able to follow along from the hallway in front of ON0.50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s Happening?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over two days, four student project teams will explore how to create a shared immersive experience across two physical locations and two virtual environments for four participants at a time. Building on our June pilot<\/a>, this experiment connects the our lab with the Design Academy Eindhoven\u2019s Trans Realities Lab<\/a> and the Hogeschool Utrecht\u2019s IX Lab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since October 1, 10 students from HKU\u2019s Minor in Artistic Immersive Experiences<\/a> and 5 from Design Academy Eindhoven have been collaborating in four teams. Their mission: to merge physical and virtual spaces into meaningful immersive experiences, using themes proposed by the DAE students. They\u2019ll use Resonite for collaborative design and Unreal Engine to craft the final user experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to Expect<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the two-day event, students in Utrecht and Eindhoven will test and refine their prepared environments in four live bodystorm sessions. These sessions blend physical movement, virtual interaction, and real-time co-creation\u2014all while navigating the challenges of hybrid collaboration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This experiment will investigate the boundaries of how we design, inhabit, and share digital-physical spaces. You\u2019ll see firsthand how students tackle questions like: How can immersive experiences bridge multiple locations? What happens when virtual and physical environments respond to each other? How do we create meaningful interactions in fragmented, networked spaces?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will be documented by SURF\u2019s Future Campus<\/a> project team, who will film the process and conduct interviews. Early findings will be presented at the Onderwijsdagen conference <\/a>(November 11\u201312).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
