Joris Weijdom

Expertise:
Creating meaningful mixed reality (MR) and extended reality (XR) experiences with a focus on interdisciplinary creative processes, performance, embodiment, and presence. He is currently completing his PhD project at the University of Twente, which focuses on using XR for collaborative and embodied design processes.

Memorable AXR moment:
Reading The Neverending Story by Michael Ende as a 10-year-old, where the book you are holding is also acknowledged as an essential part of the story, manifesting a tangible bridge between the story world and your physical reality. The moment the characters in the book address the reader directly near the end of the book, to help them and Fantasia survive

Current Fascination:
Performative prototyping as a collective embodied creative method for bodystorming meaningful immersive experiences and applying these in co-located XR workspaces.
